Disability Assemblies for Schools SMSR Ambassador, Kat Panagaki was injured in a car accident in 2014. Despite the challenges of her high level spinal cord injury, she continues to live a life packed full of adventure, positivity and joy with the support of her family and friends. She is an inspiration to everyone who meets her, and loves nothing more than sharing her experiences with young people in school assemblies, who love her free spirit and wicked sense of humour. Your pupils will benefit immeasurably from experiencing one of Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research's special assemblies. As well as hearing a few words about the charity and our important research, Kat will talk to pupils at an age-appropriate level about living with her disability, and allow the children to ask her ANYTHING about her health, her work and hobbies and life as a wheelchair user. In addition, we will allow pupils and staff to have access to wheelchairs for the day(s) to enable them to get a small insight into living life sitting down, and to help encourage empathy for all wheelchair users as part of our Wheels at Work™. All we ask for in return is a donation of £500 which can be made in a lump sum, or raised through fundraising, for instance a Mufti Day or cake sale for parents. Finally, we would make sure that your school's PR needs were met through local press and social media, making it a win-win for everyone! To find out about more please email [email protected]!
