Sean conquers 33km of open water swimming for SMSR Sean Breslin has done his fair share of open water swimming, but none were as challenging as his 33 km swim from Santa Catalina Island to Los Angeles. Sean is now one of only 367 people ever to have swum all three of the Triple Crown of open water swims, and he completed this latest swim in 11 hours. As well as the constant threat of sickness, hypothermia and exhaustion, Sean had to begin his swim with the knowledge that another swimmer had been pulled from the water after a shark attack the night before. Sean suffered a spinal cord injury back in 2002 and he said that knowing he was raising money for Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research would help him through the dark times of his challenge. Having had fantastic care and rehabilitation at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Sean is only to aware of how fortunate he is to be walking now, but is acutely aware of the many complications that go hand in hand with an SCI. We are so grateful to Sean and all his family and friends for their support, and if you would like to donate to Sean now, please do so here!
